guided by a new era

I JUST GOT INTO KALAMAZOO COLLEGE AND THEY ARE GIVING ME THEIR PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP OF $48,000.

omg omg omg omg omggggggg.

So you know how I got most of my hair chopped off the summer between sophomore and junior year? I finally got around to mailing off the hair that got cut off to Locks of Love today. I was cleaning up my desk (which is now spotless and organized and amazing) and found it sitting in a box. Kind of gross and creepy, but at least I got it done. Still, it was weird to hold it. It's weird enough to hold that much hair in your hand, let alone hair that used to be attached to your head. It is at least a foot long, so it's plenty for them. Still. Weeeeird.

Also, did anyone else watch the Oscars? I went to an Oscar-watching party and had a ton of fun, including yelling the lyrics to "Just Dance" at the top of my lungs with my friend at midnight while driving through downtown and blasting the song on my car stereo. I'm so, so glad that the Milk screenplay won in its category. The speech that the writer gave was the highlight of the night, I think.

I LOVE SHOPPING AND HERE IS WHY:

Today, I went to the mall with xolola and spent $40 at four different stores. For $40, I got:

- a steering wheel cover
- a thermal shirt (originally $24.50, got it for $7.63)
- a pair of jeans (originally $36, got them for $8 fuck yeah)
- a headband
- a pair of leggings

MWAHAHA.

The timing for the shopping was shitty, though. For the past two Saturdays I've had to leave early because they can't afford to pay me to stay for eight hours because there isn't enough business; yesterday I found out that from now until we get more business, Saturdays we are open from 11 to 3 instead of 9 to 5. So I work 5 hours per week, for $7/hour. Once taxes are taken out, I make $30 a week, down from $70. FUCK.

I am now officially old enough to watch R-rated movies without a parent/guardian. HURRAH.

Yesterday I went in for my last two finals. I'm officially done with junior year. I'm still reeling over the fact that this year flew by so fast. But I'm also extremely excited that I am FINALLY a senior.

Also, I talked to Cindy (my Native American Civ teacher) and she said that I got an A+ on my final paper and that she can't give it back to me until next year because she wants to make copies of it for future reference. :D

The only damper is that today I have to go in to school to talk to the CR monitor and then I have to go to the orthodontist's office to get my positioner. And that's not a big deal at all, so I'm very content right now. :)
