12/9/05 12:25 pm - "So if I lick the table, I'll get the virus?"

Quote is from Jano, a fellow freshmen in my science and law classes. We were learning about photosynthesis and tree leaves and shit, and Madeline told us that the only organisms that don't do cellular respiration were viruses.

Madeline: Wacky yet funny Foundations of Science (FOS) teacher.
Jano: Class clown of Block 4 FOS 1 and Block 6 Law.

Madeline: ...the virus on that desk is inactive. It is only active when it is leeching off you.
Jano: So if I lick the table, the virus will be active?
Class: *laughs*

Yesterday in Speech we went down to the Craft Theatre (auditorium) to see some famous poets do their thing. One of them asked, "What do you think is needed to make a poem?"

Well, Steve the junior answered, "Basic motor skills."

And the poets called him "Motor Skills" for the rest of the block. XD

WE HAD A SNOOOOOOOOOW DAY TODAY =DDD

11/18/05 03:50 pm - "By the way, I have herpes."

So today in Spanish, we had to make up songs to memorize all the verbs with odd stems in the preterit. Team Ramrock, which consisted of a bunch of sophomores, made a rap based on a song that included the line, "I havre herpes". So Sam, who was doing the vocals, did this:

Kevin: *background beat*
Sam: Yo...where's my snare, dog...Andar, anduv, tener, tuv, estar, estuv, decir, dij, poder, pud, poner, pus, querer, quis, saber, sup, traer, traj, venir, vin. *walks back to desk, then turns and points at general audience* By the way, I have herpes. *sits at desk to racous laughter*

Yesterday in Science we learned about happy compounds. Basically, balancing the charges of atoms in compounds. This brought Madeline to drawing a teeter-totter on the board to illustrate her point of uneven charges. She told us:

Madeline: It's like a teeter-totter, you know, like when one person is really light on one end. I was always that person, so someone much bigger than me would just hop off and I'd go BOOM, hit my butt on the ground. I'm sure you all know the suffering of teeter-totter torture.

Keep in mind, Madeline is 4'11. She really was ALWAYS the light one on a teeter-totter.

In Speech, we watched an episode of Frontline on advertising. Except Vicky was being weird and we had to go to the boneyard (the downstairs computer lab) to watch it. Only two computers got it to work, so we were all watching one computer, since the other one started later. Zocia (a junior) and I spent our time criticizing netspeak, the Harry Potter movies, and the advertising shown in the Frontline episode. Vicky never noticed ;D

Today is my brother's birthday. woo. hoo.

For serious. I get free cake, man.

Of course, I forgot to get him a birthday present, but that's beside the point.

I want to go bug my teachers at Clague too. I feel like such a dork, I actually miss that goddamn place. Iunno, maybe just because my time there wasn't that bad. >.<

I swear, fall only lasted a week. The first day of fall was last Thursday, and today outside, for the first time since March, it smells like winter. Do you know what I mean? It's the feel and smell of the air. You can almost smell the snow. Even though only a few of the leaves have changed color, it feels like winter is already upon us.

And it is because of this that I dislike Michigan's climate.

School: Well, I now officially eat lunch with Sarah and Sevde. Sarah went to Forsythe and Sevde went to Clague. Her little sister is in my little brother's second grade class, and she calls him the "potty song boy". Apparently, my little brat of a brother sings a song about how he has to go potty, then when told that he should just go potty, he says that he doesn't have to.

God, he's such an idiot.

Also in school: we watched a movie on Wednesday in FOS by National Geographic about how removing predators from the world's ecosystems is killing them.

I found it rather amusing that there was a commercial on the video for an SUV.

Oh yes, and I bought two CDs and the first five of the Sailor Moon reprint mangas. I'm so happy! *squee* The art on the covers of the reprints is sooo pretty. I want them NOOOW, not in 4-14 business days! T_T

9/22/05 02:56 pm - Har

Ha! I don't have school tomorrow. Nya-ha~! It's cause tomorrow's Forum Friday, so our forums get to go off and do something fun. My forum is going to our leader's house for movies and a picnic. :3 Fun fun.

We watched a movie called Stand by Me on Monday in Lit. At the end, the main character/narrator is finishing off his book, and types, "I never had friends like the ones when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?"

So Dan and his sacroreligious mind said, "Jesus does anyone." I was in tears laughing. I don't know, maybe I was high on something, but it was really funny, especially since this was supposed to be a serious part of the movie.

Today we dissected worms in Science. It wasn't that gross, but it was far from pleasant. My partner, who shall remain anonymous, was really aggravating. I was the one who was supposed to actually cut the worm open, and we were told that it would be best if we did it slowly so as not to damage the internal organs (surprisingly enough, worms do have brains). Well, I was doing just that, and my partner got all impatient and did it herself. She hardly let me do anything, and seemed more intent on just getting the work done instead trying to get a good grade. Then she complained that she was doing all the work. What the fuck.

9/20/05 02:59 pm - Wasting Paper...

Yurgh. >.< I have to do practically my whole Law packet before Thursday. Wonderful. And for Speech, we have to do a demonstration of teaching the class how to do something we're good at. I can't think of anything. All the stuff I'm good at is stuff I can't exactly teach. I'm pretty good at writing (or so I've heard), but this is something that comes naturally to me. It wasn't taught.

Other than that, I don't really have any outstanding talents. I guess I'll just have to teach them how to make salsa or something...

My Spanish teacher Kevin is pretty cool. He teaches mostly in Spanish, but after he's done he asks us what he said to make sure we understood him, and he's really nice.

Math is...boring yet complex. We're doing fractions in equations and it's a real bitch. I understand it and all, but it gets kind of hard for me. Sad, isn't it, that I'm whining about equations that I actually have to concentrate on? Two-step, three-step etc I could do subconsciously, no prob. But with the fractions, I struggle to remember how to do it.

And I am now addicted to Ritz Crackers.
